Now watching: The Chit Show
This past holiday season I was hanging out with my best friend. He asks me if I had seen "The Chit Show." I replied "no" and moments later we began binging it from start to finish at his desktop computer. It was so entertaining that I showed some of the clips to my mom, which we ended up binging most of the whole thing. My mom pointed out that "Chit" Show was a play on Shit show. It's short form episodes make it easy to watch everything in one sitting, or bookmark where you are at and pick it up later. The future is short form stuff people!
The Chit Show begins with an office like feel being filmed from a cell phone. Later it shifts to more of a camera type (landscape) orientation, but the illusion of cell phone filming is definitely still present from the cameraman, Chit's coworker "Kyle". Chit is your favorite, lovable, awkward coworker. Armed with a terrible hardhat, big glasses, and neutral colored sweater Chit is ready to take on whatever the office throws at him. His grab bag of phrases include crunchin' the numbers, Mmmm...Yeah, Do it lady, and back to it then. He says these all while "working" on the budget, eating subway, or my personal favorite drinking juice (white claws) he found at 7-Eleven. The show also features its fair share of running gags, which I think are better to see than have me describe.
The thing that gets me the most are probably the cast of characters. For being such a short show, all the characters seem very well flushed out with their own unique mannerisms and dynamics. There have also been some great celebrity cameos from Lil Jon to Candace Vice from the WWE.
After a couple of month break, The Chit Show just dropped its second half episodes of its second season are now streaming on YouTube. I'm definitely enjoying getting "back to it then" as I watch the new episodes.
